Welcome to the new Heart of the Matter newsletter! May is the perfect month for new beginnings, especially with summer on its way. It’s also full of fun days, at least on paper!

  • May 11th was “Eat What You Want Day”. I wish I’d known that — I would’ve snuck an extra cream puff or two.

  • May 15th was “National Chocolate Chip Day”. Well, all I can say is pour the milk and pass the platter!

  • On May 31st we celebrate Memorial Day by honoring all those who have served and are currently serving this great country of ours {and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of it}. It’s such a privilege, and it still gives me goose bumps. I hope you will take a moment to remember their contribution to our society and culture.

  • June 8th is “Best Friends Day”, so be sure to give your BFF some extra love. Remember, "Friendship isn't a big thing - it's a million little things." ~Author Unknown.

  • “Eat Your Vegetables Day” is June 17th. Have a Brussels sprout for me. Ick!

All About My Family Notebook
From NotebookingNook.com

Have your children create a notebook about the most important people in their lives, their family! Your child could interview individuals from your family to learn more about their heritage, add photos and write biographies of those who have passed on. There are pages for them to add personal information about themselves to pass down to their future children. They might choose to create a family tree on poster board or a wall with all the people they have learned about. Children love to hear stories about their family, and this notebook could be a way to collect and keep these stories alive for future generations!
