For most of us, CM is a slow transition, adding in one element at a time until we're as CM as we desire to be.

So let's talk about where we are on the continuum. What have you successfully implemented? What's left to add/change? What is your trouble area that just can't seem to budge? (For us it was math for a long time.)

I'll go first.

I've implemented about all I want to, but I've discovered that some things are falling behind. I'm lapsing on Shakespeare very badly. My problem is that I chose for it to be a monthly thing, and monthly things never work for me. I always postpone and forget and then it never happens.

So Shakespeare has to get back on track for us.

The areas we haven't fully included is music study and a formal nature study. I know that music is so easy to add in and we did do it for about 2 weeks. I guess my problem with that is just locating cd's to use. Our local library doesn't have the best selection and money is kind of tight right now.

We have been getting outside every week and we do usually find something to observe for nature study. But we haven't done too much beyond that. We haven't gone back to research what we find and we haven't incorporated our nature journal yet. I know that it's fine that at least we are getting outside and observing, but I would like to take it a step further....soon. :)

Check out music you can listen to for free online. That's what we do. So far we've done Bach, Beethoven, and now we're starting Mozart this week.

We are just beginning to transition to living math (thanks to all the info/resources) on Jimmie's squidoo pages.

We have not done much of anything in the study of Romance Languages yet. We have done a tiny bit of Spanish because I went to Peru this summer for 10 days, but nothing "formal." I do plan on starting Latin next year (3rd grade).

I just haven't had much success with including Nature Study into our homeschooling.

We go hiking as a family. We talk about nature, take pictures, and sometimes even identify animals but that is where it ends. With the fall approaching we haven't devoted as much time to hiking.

I just got the book "Pocketful of Pinecones" I love the author and have read other books by her. I hope that it will inspire me and allow me to understand how to freely implement nature study with my kids. We love to watercolor and I have thought of making a watercolor travel-like kit for them to take along when we go on walks or even to do outside in our backyard but just haven't gotten around to it ( I saw it on the crafty crow ).

Jayne, first of all, thanks for all you're offering at the HOTM forum! I appreciate all your comments.

I saw that watercolor travel kit too, and it does look neat. :-)

I am interested in that water color kit too. Just "listening" in here as I don't know that I do anything CM style. LOL

Thanks Jimmie. You know I have been interested for a bit. I am planning a library run and hoping to find some books to read on this too. :)
